My name is Mel Mitchell and I am the principal of Fort Myers Christian School. Since I first stepped on the campus in 1985, my life has been blessed in so many ways and I can’t thank the Lord enough for the opportunities He gives us every school year. One of the many blessings is watching our staff and students grow academically, physically, spiritually, and see them make an impact on the world for Jesus Christ. They are not the leaders of tomorrow, they are the leaders of today! With that being said, our theme this school year is the word “Shine.”
The days when the world encourages our young people to “shine”, their idea tends to encourage them to focus on the letter in the middle of the word “I.” Shine so you can bring attention to yourself, your brand, your social media presence, etc. But it’s not about us, it’s about Him! John 3:30 states “He must become greater, I must become less.” And in Matthew 5:16 Jesus also said, “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” So this year we want to encourage everyone to shine so that it draws people to Christ! Stay tuned to all of our FMCS news this school year because we are praying to raise up a generation to SHINE in this dark world and make a difference for Him!
